Generally, they are genuine.

These e-commerce companies usually get very low discounts on books from publishers. If they can't sell them, they will return them. There is no such thing as overstocking, and there is no need to engage in piracy.

How to identify pirated books:

1. Carefully observe the appearance of the book. Specifically: look at the cover first. Compared with genuine books, the covers of pirated books are often not in the right color, either dull or bright, and the color matching is also more mixed.

2. Binding. According to the convention of the publishing industry, a genuine book with more than 200 pages often abandons wire binding and uses lock wire binding, plastic wire or perfect binding instead.

3. Printing factory. Each publishing house has several fixed printing users, and each printing factory also has its own characteristics in paper, ink and printing.

4. Paper. Books should be printed on both sides. If the paper is too thin, it is easy to mix ink and make the handwriting blurred. Therefore, except for dictionaries, the paper used in genuine books is all above 52 grams. Once you encounter a book with thinner paper, the handwriting on the other side can see through, most of them are pirated books.

5. Check the text of the book. Pirated books have three characteristics in the text:

First, there are many wrong characters, wrong words, and incorrect sentences; second, the typesetting is not very neat, sometimes the words are crowded, and sometimes the space between words is relatively large, which makes people feel uncomfortable visually.

6. Looks like a photocopy. Some pirated books are not typeset separately, but are copied from the original book. This can avoid errors in the text and ugly layout, but there are many ink spots on the paper, and the handwriting is also relatively vague, which looks very much like a photocopy.

7. Pay attention to the price of the book. Since the cost of making pirated books from paper, typesetting to printing is very low, and they neither pay royalties nor evade taxes, the sellers often sell them at two or three times the price. For example, a book marked as 60 yuan may be sold to you for 15 yuan. Most of the new books sold at half price on the street stalls are pirated books.
