Differences between irrigation agriculture and oasis agriculture:
1. Different regions Irrigation agriculture refers to the use of artificial water replenishment in arid and semi-arid areas, where natural precipitation is far from meeting the needs of crop growth.
Oasis agriculture is also known as oasis irrigation agriculture and Wozhou agriculture. It refers to arid desert areas, generally distributed along the banks of rivers and lakes in arid desert areas, alluvial fans, and flood fans.
2. Different water sources The main sources of water for irrigation agriculture are river and lake water, groundwater, and meltwater from high mountain ice and snow. The main sources of water for oasis agriculture rely on groundwater, springs, or surface water.
3. Different divisions Irrigation agriculture is mostly distributed in sheets, especially on both sides of large rivers, such as the Mississippi River in North America, the Amazon River in South America, the Yangtze River in Asia, and the Nile River Basin in Africa, where irrigation agriculture has been developed. Oasis agriculture is mostly distributed in islands, belts or beads, mainly in West Asia, the Midwest of the United States, Central Asia of the Soviet Union, Sahara and North Africa in Africa, Xinjiang in China and the Hexi Corridor in Gansu.
