The three rivers in Wuhan refer to: Yangtze River, Han River and Han River. The Yangtze River flows through 11 provincial-level administrative regions (eight provinces, two cities and one district) including Qinghai Province, Tibet Autonomous Region, Sichuan Province, Yunnan Province, Chongqing City, Hubei Province, Hunan Province, Jiangxi Province, Anhui Province, Jiangsu Province and Shanghai City, and flows into the East China Sea east of Chongming Island. It is more than 6,300 kilometers long and ranks third in the world in length, second only to the Nile River in Africa and the Amazon River in South America.
Wuhan, referred to as "Han" and also known as "Jiangcheng", is the capital of Hubei Province, the largest city and the only sub-provincial city in central China, the most prosperous city in inland China, and the regional center city of the People's Republic of China. As early as the Neolithic Age 6,000 years ago, our ancestors had already lived and multiplied here. The Panlongcheng Ruins in the northern suburbs, as the beginning of the construction of Wuhan, has a history of 3,500 years. During the Republic of China period, Hankou was highly prosperous and was known as the Chicago of the East. The comprehensive strength of the three towns of Wuhan was second only to Shanghai and ranked among the top in Asia.
Sanjiang is a tributary of the Yangtze River in Xiling District, Yichang City, Hubei Province.
After the completion of Gezhouba Dam in Yichang, the northern part of Xiba Island was intercepted by Gezhouba Dam, with Xiba as the benchmark. The Yangtze River was divided into two rivers by Xiba Island in the middle of the river. The river on the inner side of the east side of Xiba is called "Sanjiang", and the river on the outer side of the west side is called "Erjiang". The area of "Erjiang" is much larger than that of "Sanjiang", so the locals in Yichang often call "Erjiang" the big river. "Sanjiang" and "Erjiang" converge in the south of Xiba Island - "Miaozui" and merge into the Yangtze River. The bridge across Sanjiang and connecting Xiba Island with the land is the "Gezhouba Sanjiang Bridge", referred to as "Sanjiang Bridge".
