The Amazon River in northern South America is the river with the largest amount of water and the largest drainage area in the world. From its upstream Maranhón River source to the Amazon River estuary, it is 6,480 kilometers long, second only to the Nile River. The entire Amazon River basin covers an area of 7.05 million square kilometers, 2.5 times that of the Nile River, accounting for about 2/5 of the area of South America. Its wide range is unmatched by any other major river in the world. The Amazon River also has the largest flow. Most areas in its basin have abundant rainfall, and there is also meltwater from the snow-capped peaks of the Andes Mountains. The water volume is uniform throughout the year, and the average annual flow at the estuary is 120,000 cubic meters per second. The amount of water flowing into the Atlantic Ocean each year is 3,800 cubic kilometers, accounting for about 1/9 of the total water volume of all rivers in the world. In the Atlantic Ocean, more than 300 kilometers away from the estuary, you can still see the yellow and turbid water of the Amazon River. Amazon River
The Amazon River. Known as the "King of Rivers", it originates from the top of the Mismi Snow Peak on the east side of Mount Coropuna in Peru, in the middle section of the Andes Mountains in South America. Its main source, the Ucariya River, continuously receives the gurgling icy water from the snowy peaks, gathers water from hundreds of rivers along the way, and enters the famous Amazon Plain
