It is well known that aquariums in plateau areas are quite rare in Kunming due to geographical and climatic conditions. In January 2016, the first plateau aquarium in China, Haichao Aquarium, will be settled in Kunming, the Spring City.

As the first plateau aquarium in China, Haichao Aquarium was invested and built by Kunming Shengxiang Enterprise Management Co., Ltd. The aquarium is located in Shilin Street, University Town, Chenggong District, Kunming, covering an area of ​​more than 200 acres, with a viewing area of ​​more than 8,000 square meters. It is currently the only large inland aquarium in Yunnan Province. Haichao Aquarium is divided into several parts, including submarine tunnels, tropical rainforests, ocean beaches, freshwater areas, seawater areas, and entertainment centers.

In the tropical rain forest area, visitors can stroll along the secluded paths, surrounded by vines, lush branches and leaves, slanting sunlight, and hear the chirping of insects and birds and mysterious sculptures of exotic styles, while admiring the African prince, red dragon, koi, giant arapaima, anglerfish, archerfish, angelfish, piranha, sniffing line perch, Chinese sturgeon and other magical and rare aquatic creatures. At the same time, the exhibition area uses high-tech sound and light technology, which makes people feel like they are in the Amazon primeval forest.

1. If you drive, just navigate to the destination "Haichao Oceanarium" on Baidu Maps and the navigation will take you there! You can drive from Caiyun Road or Huanhu East Road to the intersection of Jingming South Road and Caiyun Road in Chenggong District. Shilin Street is more than 30 meters away from the intersection. There are more than 1,000 parking spaces on Shilin Street, which is convenient for parking.

2. Take the subway

Get off at Liandajie Station or Yikang South Road Station. The Oceanarium is located right between these two subway stations. It takes more than 10 minutes to walk from the subway station to the Oceanarium.
