The Yellow River flows into the Bohai Sea, and the Yangtze River flows into the East China Sea.

1. The northern source of the Yellow River originates from Zhaqu at the southern foot of the Chahasila Mountain, a branch of the Bayankala Mountains on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in Qinghai Province; the southern source originates from Kariqu at the northern foot of the Gezigeya Mountain, a branch of the Bayankala Mountains; the western source originates from Yuguzongliequ to the west of the Xingxiu Sea. The main stream flows through 11 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities including Qinghai, Tibet, Sichuan, Yunnan, Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Anhui, Jiangsu and Shanghai, and flows into the East China Sea east of Chongming Island. Extended information: The Yangtze River Estuary is a stretch of water where the Yangtze River meets the East China Sea. It stretches from Ebizui, Jiangyin, Jiangsu, to Jigujiao at the estuary, and is about 232 kilometers long. The Yangtze River Estuary is trumpet-shaped in plane, with a river width of 5.8 kilometers at the narrow end and 90 kilometers at the wide end.

6,000 to 7,000 years ago, the Yangtze River Estuary was a drowned valley-type estuary bay, with the top of the bay in Zhenjiang and Yangzhou. Over the past 2,000 years, the beach on the south bank of the estuary has advanced toward the sea at an average speed of 1 kilometer every 40 years, and sand islands have successively merged with the shore on the north bank. The width of the estuary has narrowed from 180 kilometers to 90 kilometers, the river channel has formed and deepened, and the main channel has shifted to the south, gradually evolving into a multi-level branched delta estuary.
