长江(Changjiang River),亚洲第一长河,全长6397千米。它发源于青藏高原唐古拉山的主峰各拉丹冬雪山。长江是世界第三长河,仅次于非洲的尼罗河与南美洲的亚马逊河,水量也是世界第三。
长江的正源沱沱河出自青海省西南边境唐古拉山脉的格拉丹冬雪山,与长江南源当曲会合后称通天河;通天河与长江北源楚玛尔河汇流后,向东南流到玉树县巴塘河口。从此以下至四川省宜宾市间的长江干流称金沙江;宜宾以下始称长江,在以前的荆州河段称作荆江,扬州以下旧称扬子江。在上海市注入东海。
The Yangtze River (Changjiang River), the longest river in Asia, is 6,397 kilometers long. It originates from the Geladandong Snow Mountain, the main peak of the Tanggula Mountains on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The main source of the Yangtze River, Tuotuo River, originates from the Geladandong Snow Mountain in the Tanggula Mountains in the southwest border of Qinghai Province. After merging with the southern source of the Yangtze River, Dangqu, it is called Tongtian River; after the Tongtian River merges with the northern source of the Yangtze River, Chumar River, it flows southeast to the mouth of Batang River in Yushu County. From here to Yibin City, Sichuan Province, the main stream of the Yangtze River is called Jinsha River; it is called Yangtze River below Yibin, and the former Jingzhou section is called Jingjiang River, and the section below Yangzhou is formerly called Yangtze River. It flows into the East China Sea in Shanghai.
