Chujiang refers to the Yangtze River. The Chu State originated in Hubei and Hunan in the Yangtze River Basin. After that, it continued to move eastward, and in the Warring States Period, it successively destroyed the countries in the Yangtze River Basin and occupied the entire Yangtze River Basin. Therefore, the ancients also called the Yangtze River "Chujiang".
The Yangtze River originates from the southwest side of the Geladandong Peak of the Tanggula Mountains on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the "Roof of the World". It is 6,387 kilometers long, ranking third in the world among the world's major rivers, second only to the Nile River in Africa and the Amazon River in South America. The Yangtze River is the most water-rich river in China, with a total water resource of 961.6 billion cubic meters.
Chujiang refers to the Yangtze River, because the middle reaches of the Yangtze River belonged to the Chu State in ancient times, so it was called Chujiang. Tianmen Mountain is located on both sides of the Yangtze River between Hexian County, Anhui Province and Wuhu City. The one in the north of the river is called Xiliang Mountain, and the one in the south of the river is called Dongliang Mountain. The two mountains face each other across the river, like a gate set up by heaven, hence the name Tianmen.
