The Yangtze River is the longest river in China and has many branches. Some of the important branches include:
1. Tongchuan River: Located in Zigong City, Sichuan Province, it is an important tributary on the left bank of the Yangtze River.
2. Yuanjiang River: Originated in Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province, it is an important tributary on the right bank of the Yangtze River.
3. Changdang Lake: Located in Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, it is a lake of the Yangtze River and is connected to the Yangtze River.
4. Poyang Lake: Located at the junction of Jiangxi Province and Anhui Province, it is one of the largest freshwater lakes in China and one of the main tributaries of the Yangtze River.
5. Dongting Lake: Located between Xiangtan City, Hunan Province and Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, it is the second largest inland lake in China and an important branch of the Yangtze River.
These branches are partly lakes and partly rivers. They are connected to the Yangtze River and provide important support and supplements to the water system of the Yangtze River Basin. Due to the vastness of the Yangtze River Basin, there may be other branches, and only some important branches are listed here.
The Minjiang River is a branch of the Yangtze River. The Minjiang River is an important tributary of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Historically, the Minjiang River was considered the main source of the Yangtze River. Xu Xiake of the Ming Dynasty concluded through field investigation that the Jinsha River was the main source of the Yangtze River. The Minjiang River is traditionally regarded as the main source of the Minjiang River, which originates from the southern foot of Minshan Mountain in Songpan County, Sichuan. However, in fact, its western branch, the Dadu River, is the main source from the perspective of river source.
According to the standard statement in geography textbooks, the Yangtze River has eight major tributaries, named in seven sections, which are introduced below.
Eight major tributaries: Yalong River, Minjiang River, Jialing River, Wujiang River, Hanjiang River, Yuanjiang River, Xiangjiang River, Ganjiang River
Seven sections are named: Tuotuo River (the main source of the Yangtze River), Tongtian River (the border between Qinghai and Tibet), Jinsha River (Yibin, Sichuan), Chuanjiang River (Sichuan below Yibin), Xijiang River (Chongqing to Yichang), Jingjiang River (Zhicheng, Hubei to Hunan), Yangtze River (below Yangzhou)
The Yangtze River has three sources, the southern source is Dangqu, the northern source is Chumar River, and the western source is Tuotuo River. It is generally believed that Tuotuo River is the main source of the Yangtze River. The main stream of the Yangtze River from Tuotuo River to the downstream is Tongtian River, Jinsha River, Chuanjiang River, Jingjiang River and Yangtze River, etc.
The Yangtze River is the mother river of my country and the longest river in my country. The length of the Yangtze River reaches 6,300 kilometers, which is about 800 kilometers longer than the second longest river in my country, the Yellow River. It is also the third longest river in the world, second only to the Nile River and the Amazon River.
Seven branches. If you are talking about tributaries, people usually call the eight major tributaries the Yalong River, Minjiang River, Jialing River, Wujiang River, Hanjiang River, Yuanjiang River, Xiangjiang River, and Ganjiang River. The Yangtze River (English name: the Changjiang River/the Yangtze River) originates from the southwest side of the Geladandong Peak of the Tanggula Mountains on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the "Roof of the World". The main stream flows through 11 provincial administrative regions (eight provinces, two cities and one district) including Qinghai Province, Tibet Autonomous Region, Sichuan Province, Yunnan Province, Chongqing City, Hubei Province, Hunan Province, Jiangxi Province, Anhui Province, Jiangsu Province and Shanghai City, and flows into the East China Sea east of Chongming Island. It is 6,387 kilometers long, ranking third in the world in terms of length, second only to the Nile River in Africa and the Amazon River in South America.
In the Yangtze River system, there are 49 tributaries with a drainage area of more than 10,000 square kilometers, mainly including Jialing River, Han River, Min River, Yalong River, Xiang River, Yuan River, Wu River, Gan River, Zishui River and Tuo River. The tributaries with a total length of more than 1,000 kilometers include Han River and Jialing River. The Yalong River, Yuan River and Wu River; the tributaries with a drainage area of 50,000 square kilometers are the Jialing River, Han River, Min River, Yalong River, Xiang River, Yuan River, Wu River and Gan River; the annual average runoff of the Min River, Xiang River, Jialing River, Yuan River, Gan River, Yalong River, Han River and Wu River exceeds 50 billion cubic meters.
