Pineapple is one of the famous tropical fruits, native to the Amazon River Basin in Brazil and Paraguay in South America. According to records, Xuwen pineapples were introduced from Southeast Asia by the returned overseas Chinese Ni Guoliang in 1926. Ni Guoliang was also the "first person to grow pineapples in Guangdong". Yugonglou Village has a southern subtropical monsoon climate, with plenty of sunshine, fog and rain. In addition, the local gentle slope topography and brick red soil are very suitable for pineapple cultivation. The production of pineapples accounts for more than one-third of China's total, making it the "leading county of China's pineapple industry" and the "hometown of China's pineapple".

Yugonglou pineapple is a Chinese green food A-level product and one of the top ten tropical fruits in China. It was named after the earliest introduction of Yugonglou Village in Qujie Town, Xuwen County. The Bali pineapple (one of the pineapple varieties) produced there has long been famous for its fragrance, crispness and sweetness. Relevant American history books list "Yugonglou pineapple" as a world-famous fruit. In the 1970s, the local pineapples were also airlifted to Beijing to entertain foreign guests.

On August 25, 2005, the former General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China approved the implementation of geographical indication product protection for "Yugonglou Pineapple"

There is a well-known "sea" in Xuwen, Zhanjiang, Guangdong, called "Sea of ​​Pineapples", with a planting area of ​​up to 350,000 mu. The endless pineapple fields rise and fall, and the earth curves beautifully, extending to the horizon.
