All species of Amazon parrots are national second-level and first-level protected animals. It is illegal for individuals to keep them without a license.

Raising Amazon parrots

1. Amazon parrots are cheerful, lively, and energetic. In order to avoid boredom and depression, it is best to provide a large space for activities. They are usually raised in racks or cages. Both are fine. The most important thing is to keep them free and accompany them. Amazon parrots are destructive. They need to be given some fresh branches to chew and sharpen their beaks, and some pet parrot toys for Amazon parrots to play and pass the time. Amazon parrots are usually very noisy. After learning human language, they keep nagging. If they are allowed to learn to sing, it will be even more amazing. They can sing more than ten times a day, especially in the morning and dusk. Most Amazon parrots can only call, and only very smart species of Amazon can sing and learn human language.

2. Amazon parrots' speaking ability: The most expensive and largest Amazon in China is the double yellow-headed Amazon. The Amazon parrots with strong speaking ability are the big yellow cap (small yellow cap), yellow collar cap and blue cap. The red cap Amazon has very poor speaking ability, but its IQ is not bad. The orange-winged Amazon has average speaking ability. The beautiful Amazon is very large, but it can't speak and has a loud cry. Each type of Amazon parrot has its own advantages and disadvantages. The beautiful and smart ones are expensive, and the cheap ones have poor speaking ability. Everyone must choose according to their own situation.

3. Daily diet care: Amazon parrots also have feather powder on their bodies, which is less than that of sunflower and gray parrots. They can be bathed or sprayed more often on a daily basis. When excited, the feathers on the back of the neck will stand up, just like the sunflower parrots stand up the feather crown. In spring and summer, feed more colorful fresh fruits and vegetables to supplement vitamins to help the glossiness of the feathers. In autumn, feed more oily grains to increase fat for winter. Try to diversify the diet to meet the parrots' needs for various substances. If properly raised, the lifespan can reach 80 years. The longest-lived Amazon parrot has lived for more than 100 years, and those raised can generally live for 50 years.

4. Breeding environment: Parrots need a quiet environment, gentle sunlight, and clean, circulating air. Hot and humid places are not suitable for raising parrots, such as bathrooms and near kitchens. Amazon parrots can easily fall into dangerous places such as toilets, bathtubs, and stoves, so special attention needs to be paid to raising them. Most bird lovers raise them on the balcony. In summer, they need to be shaded, ventilated, and cooled. If you have a yard or sun room at home, you can plant some plants near the birdcage to imitate the living environment of wild parrots. If you have other pets at home, such as cats, dogs, etc., Amazon parrots need to be familiar with each other for a period of time after they arrive home, otherwise they will fight and get injured.
