In 2002, the film was adapted from a true story and shot by the Bayi Film Studio. Although the story takes place in Latin America, due to various restrictions, the crew of Breaking Out of the Amazon could not really go there to shoot.
The location was finally decided to be in Sanya, Hainan, which has the characteristics of the Amazon region: the same hot climate and harsh environment.
