The Amazon River does not belong to any country. Most of it is in Brazil.
The Amazon River is known as the "King of Rivers". It originates from the top of the Mismi Snow Peak on the east side of Mount Coropuna in Peru, in the middle section of the Andes Mountains in South America. Its main source, the Ucariya River, constantly receives the gurgling icy water from the snowy peaks, gathering the water of hundreds of rivers along the way and entering the famous Amazon Plain.
The Amazon River flows through Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, Bolivia and Brazil. It finally flows into the Atlantic Ocean near Marajó Island in Brazil. The Amazon River is more than 6,400 kilometers long, and it has thousands of tributaries, which together with the main stream form the Amazon River system with a total length of more than 60,000 kilometers. Its basin area is 7.05 million square kilometers, most of which is in Brazil.
