r
B2B is the exchange of products, services and information between enterprises through the Internet, such as Microsoft and Alibaba.
r B2C is the business model of selling products and services directly to consumers. This form of e-commerce is generally dominated by online retail, and mainly relies on the Internet to carry out online sales activities.
r O2O combines offline business opportunities with the Internet, making the Internet a platform for offline transactions. The concept of O2O is very broad, and the application scenarios can be online ordering, ticket booking, hotel booking, car washing, nail service, etc.
r Taobao’s more obvious model should be B2B and B2C. The platform provides a platform and services for merchants to sell products, which is B2B. At the same time, like other merchants on the platform, it also faces consumers and provides shopping services, which belongs to B2C to a certain extent.
r However, in today's mobile Internet, the boundaries of these common e-commerce models are becoming increasingly blurred. For example, many industries or companies have businesses for individuals and also do business in the enterprise market. They have both physical stores and online transactions. This makes it difficult to distinguish between B2C and B2B. Of course, with the continuous emergence of various new businesses, new models, and new companies, new models are also being explored, such as the "new retail" proposed by Jack Ma that integrates offline and online, and the S2B2c model that advocates providing personalized products and services according to consumer needs.
r
Taobao is an online shopping platform, and its business model is C2C, that is, a transaction model between consumers. Taobao provides a platform for sellers to open stores and sell goods on the platform, and buyers can search and buy goods on the platform. Taobao earns revenue by charging sellers commissions and advertising fees. Taobao's success in the market, in addition to its convenient shopping experience and rich product categories, is also reflected in its measures to protect the rights and interests of buyers and improve the credibility of sellers.
In 1995, eBay established an online C2C trading platform, selling products and services through a variety of public individuals and small businesses, which is a destructive business model.
In 1999, EachNet was established in Shanghai, introducing eBay's C2C business model to China for the first time. eBay entered China in 2002, paying US$30 million to acquire 1/3 of EachNet's shares, and a year later purchased shares worth US$15 million. Before Taobao was established in May 2003, EachNet did not make any changes to the original eBay business model.
