Shiquanhe Town, Tibet
Shiquanhe Town, the current political, economic and cultural center of Ali, is located on the north bank of the Shiquan River in the upper reaches of the Indus River and at the intersection of the Xinjiang-Tibet and Lashi Highways. It is not only the seat of the Ali Prefecture Administrative Office, but also an important transportation connection center, material distribution center and cultural exchange fulcrum between the Tibet Autonomous Region and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Shiquanhe Town, the capital of Ali, was built in 1964. It is a new town built after the peaceful liberation of Ali. In the past, it was a dense red willow beach, but after the town was built, it was used to solve the problem of fuel for local cadres and workers. Almost all of them were cut down, and the land began to desertify, causing serious impacts on the local ecological environment.
