Alibaba (English: Alibaba.com Corporation; HKEX: 1688), China's largest Internet company and the world's second largest Internet company, is a business-to-business online trading market platform founded by Jack Ma in 1999.

In May 2003, it invested 100 million yuan to establish Taobao, a personal online trading market platform.

In October 2004, Alibaba invested in the establishment of Alipay Company, launching a secure transaction service based on an intermediary for the Chinese e-commerce market. Alibaba established its headquarters in Hong Kong and its Chinese headquarters in Hangzhou, China. It also established three branches and joint ventures overseas in Silicon Valley, London, and more than ten branches and offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Shandong, Jiangsu, Fujian, Guangdong and other regions in China.
