RISC-V
RISC-V
RISC-V was launched in 2010, and the first version of the user manual was officially released in 2014. In the second four years since the establishment of the RISC-V Foundation in 2015, the RISC-V Foundation has absorbed 235 member units including Nvidia, Google, Qualcomm, Samsung, IBM, Sony, Alibaba, Huawei, TSMC and other companies, as well as Berkeley Architecture Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences Computing and other institutions.
Compared with traditional architectures such as ARM and X86, the RISC-V instruction set is concise and clearly distinguishes between user and privileged instruction subsets, core basic instruction sets and standard extensible instruction subsets, supports development for specific scenarios, reserves a large amount of coding space, and takes into account universality, extensibility and professional needs.
There are two main competitors of ARM architecture: Intel and AMD. Intel is one of the world's largest semiconductor companies, and its x86 architecture dominates the PC and server markets.
AMD is Intel's main competitor and a semiconductor company. Its x86 architecture processors compete fiercely with Intel products in terms of performance and price. In addition, there are some other companies such as IBM and Huawei that also compete with ARM architecture to varying degrees, especially in the fields of mobile devices and the Internet of Things.
