Huawei is so powerful, why is Ren Zhengfei's wealth not as high as Ma Huateng and Jack Ma?

| 1Person Answer

Huawei has a history of 31 years since its establishment in 1987. Founder Ren Zhengfei led a small company of 8 people to develop step by step into the world's largest telecommunications equipment group, with annual sales revenue of 600 billion and 180,000 employees worldwide. Huawei is so huge, but Ren Zhengfei's wealth has never been on the list.

Ren Zhengfei is a very low-key person. Someone previously broke the news that Ren Zhengfei queued for a taxi at the airport in the middle of the night, and Huawei employees often saw Ren Zhengfei getting food in the cafeteria, but rarely saw Ren in the media.

Ren Zhengfei has led Huawei's elite soldiers to work hard for so many years, and put technology research and development in the first place. In the past 10 years, Huawei's R&D investment has accumulated 45 billion US dollars, which has enabled Huawei's flagship phones to carry HiSilicon Kirin chips, the right to formulate 5G standards, and various black technologies in Huawei's 2012 laboratory, and very scary technology.

Huawei, which advocates the werewolf culture, has very high annual sales revenue and net profit, but Ren Zhengfei's share is very low, less than 1.4%. Employees hold more than 95% of the shares. It is this share structure that gives Huawei's employees the motivation to strive and the mentality of not being satisfied with the status quo.

At the end of 2017, Samsung, which has higher revenue and profit than Huawei, had a market value of about 320 billion US dollars, so Huawei's market value is estimated to be within 300 billion US dollars (this number is inaccurate). The market value of Tencent and Alibaba is around 500 billion US dollars. According to Ren's less than 1.4% shareholding ratio, Ren Zhengfei's wealth is not even in the top 20 of China's richest list.

Of course, Ren Zhengfei did not create Huawei to become the richest man or a wealthy man. Huawei has now become the pride of China's private enterprises and is one of the few companies in China that focuses on doing practical things. Huawei also has a strong cohesion and many old employees.

Ren Zhengfei doesn't say much in public, but every time he says something, he is very confident and shocking. When the media asked why Huawei didn't go public, Ren Zhengfei said: Huawei is not short of money, so we won't go public. Ren Zhengfei's style of paying employees is that if you pay more, even non-talents will become talents. And Huawei's operating income exceeded the total revenue of BAT by nearly 200 billion in 2016!

Since Huawei is not listed, Huawei's specific market value cannot be accurately estimated. This is also one of the reasons why Ren Zhengfei cannot enter the rich list. Perhaps any ranking list has no meaning for Ren Zhengfei and Huawei.

But the truth that Mr. Ren has never entered the ranking list is that he distributes the most corporate profits to employees who work together. Every year, Huawei becomes "other people's" company every year by issuing year-end bonuses. From this point of view, Huawei deserves the respect of every Chinese!
