On June 4, 2015, Alibaba Group and Shanghai Media Group (SMG) jointly announced that they would jointly build SMG's First Financial Media Co., Ltd. into a new digital financial media and information service group. Alibaba will invest 1.2 billion yuan to participate in First Financial and explore the field of data services. Alibaba Network Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as: Alibaba Group) was founded in Hangzhou, China in 1999 by 18 people led by Jack Ma, who used to be an English teacher.
