No matter what you study, I think academic qualifications should not be a stumbling block to progress. Now in the entire design industry, there are many people from high schools, technical secondary schools, and non-professional backgrounds. If you only rely on people from related majors, it is far from enough, so if you want to learn, just feel free to learn boldly.
Personal advice (as a person who has come here, I hope my experience and advice can help you)
Don’t look at the glamorous design industry. In my opinion, it is as tiring as moving bricks on a construction site. It is common for advertising companies to stay up late and work overtime, and they sit for more than ten hours at a time. If you want to learn, you must be mentally prepared first. Design is not easy, but it is the same in any industry. It is not easy.
If you want to learn, I suggest you sign up for a class and find some more professional and reputable training schools in the local area to learn. It is more systematic and you will learn better, and you can avoid many detours. Moreover, most training schools will help you solve the employment problems in the early stage. Although the salary is not high, it is still no problem to support yourself. The first two years are mainly for accumulating practical experience, because experience is still very important in the design industry.
Self-study is not recommended. It’s not that self-study is not good, but it is difficult to find a job by self-study, and you have to take many detours. Self-study can also easily make you immersed in your own thinking and talk about things on paper. After your work is stable, you can take the time to apply for a night school or something like that to catch up with your diploma. Although academic qualifications are not the most important, they are the stepping stone for many medium and large companies. If you have excellent abilities and good academic qualifications, you will naturally be able to gain a foothold.
Another point is also the most important point, which is to constantly improve yourself. It is not that you can just finish your studies and find a job. Once you enter this industry, you have to learn new things every day. The Internet updates too fast, and it is eliminated quickly. Only by constantly improving yourself can you make some achievements in this industry.
