Barbecue, or BBQ, is an abbreviation of "Barbecue", which means "barbecue meeting". This is an interesting way of cooking, a bit like the grilled lamb kebabs in Xinjiang, China. BBQ is usually done outdoors. When people go out, they usually put charcoal on the barbecue table, then ignite the charcoal with fire, then put the metal barbecue grill on top of the charcoal, then put raw fish, meat and other foods on the barbecue grill and spread some soy sauce, chili powder and other condiments on the food.

In Western countries, barbecue is a popular cooking method when people hold picnics outdoors or go camping. For example, BBQ is very common at Christmas parties in Australia and New Zealand.
