Nancheng County, formerly known as Jianchang, is under the jurisdiction of Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province. It is located in the eastern part of Jiangxi Province, the central part of Fuzhou City, and the lower reaches of Xujiang River. It is adjacent to Zixi County and Lichuan County in the east, Nanfeng County in the south, Yihuang County in the west, and Linchuan District and Jinxi County in the north. The county covers an area of ​​1,698 square kilometers and has 10 towns and 2 townships under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2020, the permanent population of Nancheng County was 286,200. [20]

Nancheng County is a Jiangyou cultural area and is known as "the famous prefecture in Gan and the most famous county in Fuzhou". The county was established in the fifth year of Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty (202 BC). Because it is located in the south of Yuzhang County, it is called Nancheng. It has nurtured far-reaching regional cultures such as Magu longevity culture, Hongmen Yiwang culture, and Jianchang Gang traditional Chinese medicine culture. [22] The Changfu Railway, Fuyin Expressway, Ji-Guang Expressway, National Highway 206, National Highway 316, and Changxia Highway intersect and connect in the territory.

In 2020, Nancheng County achieved a GDP of 15.297 billion yuan and a total fiscal revenue of 1.757 billion yuan. [19]

Nancheng County is a national food industry powerhouse, a high-yield grain creation county, a fishery health breeding demonstration county, a comprehensive demonstration county for e-commerce in rural areas, a county for agricultural product quality and safety, and one of the top ten fruit counties in the province, one of the top ten aquatic counties, and the first "ton grain field county". In 2018 and 2019, it was successively named the province's advanced county for high-quality development.
