In 1946, 14 years after Lego officially started making wooden toys, Lego launched its own building block toys. At this time, Ole Kirk Christiansen did not realize that the toy he created became the predecessor of a concept that changed Lego three years later. Although the birth of the "Automatic Binding Bricks" in 1949 had nothing to do with this wooden Lego building block, and even belonged to a different system of building blocks. But it must be said that the wooden building blocks in 1946 were already the earliest Lego building block toys in the record, and for the history of Lego, they happened to have such a creative name. When we talk about Lego wooden toys, it is inevitable to discuss them as representative Lego sets.

In the book "THE LEGO BOOK" produced by LEGO and DK, the wooden toy introduction page introduces wooden building blocks as the object of introduction, calling them "Forerunners of the plastic brick".

Note: Wooden building blocks belong to building blocks, while LEGO plastic building blocks belong to plug-in building blocks, and there is a difference between the two. Although "building blocks" are used as a synonym in the Chinese system, in the English system, the official description of LEGO calls this wooden building blocks "blocks" and the later plastic building blocks "bricks", which is different.

After 70 years, it is very difficult to find a set of wooden building blocks in good condition. On eBay, a set of building blocks with a damaged cover and poor condition was even marked with a sky-high price of 850 US dollars. This set was obtained through the internal channels of a foreign private collector, so it is well preserved and very rare.
