Ebay was founded in Shanghai in August 1999. Mainly engaged in e-commerce, it was founded by Shao Yibo and Tan Haiyin, both of whom are from Shanghai and graduated from Harvard Business School in the United States.

In February 2000, it pioneered the 24-hour uninterrupted hotline service in China. From March to May 2000, it formed a strategic alliance with Sina, and in May 2000, it acquired 5291 Mobile Direct Sales Network and launched online mobile phone sales, making this business one of the characteristics of eBay. eBay currently has 3.5 million registered users.

In 2002, eBay formed an alliance with eBay, changed its name to eBay, and quickly developed into the largest online trading community in China.
